As I was looking for the article of "Best Practice", I come across a Journal [1] which describes the teaching perspectives. The teachers professional development is essential in improving their professional skill and practice [2]

1. Teacher Personalities and Experiences

Having content knowledge does not guarantee that one can effectively give instruction. The unique characteristics of individuals teachers. Therefore, they have their own personalities and experiences that in turn established individual teaching styles.

2. Effective Feedback

To improve/ reflect/ refine / need to change teaching practices to improve student achievement.

3. Time Constraints

As more has been required of teachers, their ability to have time to plan, reflect and implement new teaching Practices effectively has become more difficult. [3]

4. Consistency

The successful implementation and sustainability of instructional coaching is influenced by many factors and one of the influential is consistency.

"Teachers may be hesitant to implement changes when they are unsure or unskilled in new teaching practices or teaching technologies" [4]

Stomata of the Moses in the Cradle Plant

I always tried to find time to starts blogging early every year, and I always find a reason to start late. As soon as remember my sifu, Prof. Nurulhuda once told me that blogging need to be consistent otherwise I would be overwhelming; I start bloging.

Moses in the Cradle Plant (Tradescantia spathacea) or locally known as Pandan Ungu  is the plant that is suggested for the science activity to study the gaseous exchange in plants.

To observe the structure of stoma under a microscope and be able to explain:

1. A stomatal pore is controlled by two guard cells.

2. During the day, water enters the guard cells by osmosis, causing them to become turgid and open the stomatal pore.

3. The diffusion of carbon dioxide takes place due to the difference in concentration of gas.

4. During the hot days, water is lost from the guard cells through osmosis causing the stomatal pore to close.

Throughout this activity, I find that students had enjoyed and love observing the stomata under the microscope especially when smartphone is used to magnify the image form by the microscope and capture / record those image.















Next, the students soak different types of leaves in boiling water to observe the gas released from its surface.

The stomata released air bubbles or gelembung udara (Not buih! 😅). Using the smartphone lens to magnify the image of the air bubble is almost impossible with our naked eyes.

So teachers, use your smartphone lens to the fullest.
