Green Technology Show Competition

GREEN TECHNOLOGY SHOW

(HOPEFULLY IT CAN BENEFIT TO THE TEACHERS AND STUDENTS AROUND THE WORLD)


WE WON THE FIRST PRIZE FOR THE SCIENCE CARNIVAL COMPETITION DISTRICT LEVEL, dedicated to my girls; Farah, Aysa n Liyana. 💜💜💜











SCENE 1: A HOT AND SUNNY DAY
Ms. Drama Queen walking fast across the school car park wearing a big hat and with and electronic fan and bump into Ms. Physics Major and books are flying all over.
Ms. PM
:
Owh….owh… I am sorry
Ms. DQ
:
OMG… Now look what you have done!
Ms. PM
:
Owh..I am so sorry let me help you
Both went to the nearby canteen and sit on the chair.
Ms. PM
:
Ms. Drama Queen why are such in a hurry? You are walking so fast as you are gonna melt under the SUN!
 A poster of the sun appear/ raise by Ms. DQ.
Ms. DQ
:
Of course Ms Physic Major, don’t you know that the world is getting hotter  of global warming. The surrounding temperature is so hot and I am taking care of my skin from the skin cancer. Don’t you know that?
Ms. PM
:
Oh.. its good that you are so concern about the Earth. Now tell me more!
Ms. DQ
:
You know Ms. Physics Major, Let just make it simple to understand. When you sleep at night, and you covered with blanket. What do feel?
Ms. PM
:
Hot!
Ms. DQ

Hot isn’t.. Similar to the Earth, The sun direct its light and heat to Earth. And the Green House gases prevent the heat and light from escaping the Earths’ atmosphere
Ms. PM and Ms. DQ pin the SUN and the EARTH on the banana stem. And they cover/ shield the Earth with a shield.
Ms. PM
:
You are genius Ms DQ… examples of GH gases are Carbon Monoxide, Sulphur dioxide that is release by the factories anddd also by or transportation!
SCENE 2: At the canteen. Ms. Know-It-All overheard the conversation and stop by
Ms. KIA
:
Errr excuse me.. I overheard your conversation about the Greenhouse effects and about the Sun. Discussing on the other dimension, don’t you know that the Sun provides us with energy. The light and heat energy that we call as Solar energy.
Ms. DQ
:
Of course I am aware of that, but I wish I was born in London or New York..or…
Ms. PM
:
But I am so grateful to live here in Malaysia. Our country is bless with sunlight throughout the year.
Ms. KIT
:
Yes..talking about energy.. Here

Now this is our assignment assign by our Physics teacher. We are discussing two issues in the class that is Renewable Energy (RE) and Energy Eficiency (EE)
Ms. DQ
 :
Ohh yess! Look at me! Don’t u ever think a beautiful creature like me didn’t know about RE and EE.
RE is an optional Energy which will not depleted over time
Where EE is to save energy and use energy efficiently
Ms. KIA and Ms PM clapped their hand and pop a blaster.
Ms. KIA
:
Ms Physics Major, can u explain further?
Ms. PM
:
Ok let me try..
This is incandescent light and this is CFL (Fluorescent Light)
This incandescent bulb cost 10 times than CFL and use 80% higher Energy than CFL.
Whereas, CFL is energy saving lighting and can last 25 times longer compare to the incandescent light.


Ms. KIA
:
Yes, next, this is LED light, LED light is more energy efficient than CFL because it uses 7.5w of electricity which is lesser than CFL that uses 24w of electricity power. The LED ligt is expensive than CFL as the life of an LED light is usually up to 50 000 hours or more while the life aof a CFL is up to 8000hours, which means LED light are durable and long lasting as compared to CFL.
When it is lighten up, LED will remains cool and brighter, whereas the CFL gets heated up quickly and less brighter than LED light

:
But……. What are we going to do with this incandescent light, if it didn’t benefit us,then why do the seller still sell this in stock.
Ms PM
:
Dear Ms DQ, incandescent light produce 40% of light energy and 60% of heat energy.
Ms KIA

Why not if we use 60% of the heat energy to heat up something?
Ms DQ

Uh…uh.. I think I have a brilliant idea!

Wait! Innovation in a simple word is turning something that as is to a “valuable” … to something that can benefits the people around the world!

Uh..uh..mmmmmm welllllllll… I N N O V A T I O N n n n  iss closely related to CREATIVITY. Creativity is about NEW IDEA where INNOVATION is translating the idea into a good service which creates profitable value when we implement these idea.
Ms KIA

Surely it cannot be done in one day….

Its true… Innovation requires time, leadership, teamwork and Communication.

I agree.. without good leadership and Teamwork, there will be NO PROGRESS in innovation.

This is a microwave isn’t buttttt with incandenscent light bulb??? And.. u r cooking the chicken eggs?
Ms DQ

No…no…no darling.. now let me explain.. THIS IS A MICROWAVE…but a it is not function..Now as u can see, this incandescent light is not efficient isn’t? So,.. I benefits the 60% of the heat energy as what we discuss before to keep the chicken eggs warm until it hatched.
Ms KIA

Let me demonstrate…
1.     Open the oven
2.     Put the eggs and close its door
3.     Let it turn (wait for a while)
4.     Turn off the oven…
5.     Temperature (thermometer shows 37 degree C)

And one more…. The light can be control by a controller by increasing or decreasing the resistor.

Wow.. my mother would love this to warm her donut daugh and let the yeast enjoyed their METABOLIC ACTIVITIES in this optimum temperature !

Dropping A Ball Experiment


Linear motion experiments, namely gravitational acceleration and energy conservation experiments require students to analyze the parameters of the object’s motion.  Ticker tape in school laboratory is almost impossible to execute or resolve the above problems.  Teachers often find it difficult to explain the concept as they are unable to show proof or evidence to the students.

With ‘Dropping a ball experiment’, using Tracker Software (a Freeware), the teacher is able to conduct learner-centered in-depth video analysis with reference to the theoretical physic models of gravitational acceleration, principle of conservation of energy and energy loss due to damping.  The values deduced from the video analysis are consistent with the real world data of gravitational acceleration on earth surface.

5E Lesson Plan: Understanding Electricity For Science Form 3


Assalamualaikum and have a very good day. Today I would like to share the 5E Lesson Plan for Science Form 3 Topic 7.2 Understanding Electricity

I tried to infused technology in my T&L by utilising the simulation in website & web 2.0 tools which is PHET and quizizz.


Lesson Plan : Daily Lesson Plan using the 5E Teaching Model/Learning Cycle for an Inquiry Lesson
